According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette the Steelers will not be signing free agent wide receiver Steve Breaston at this time. The Steelers met with Breaston this week and also met with his agent during the NFL scouting combine a week ago. Breaston was-considered-a solid option for the Steelers because of his experience playing under Todd Haley as well as well as the Steelers need for receivers.
However, Bouchette's report that the Steelers will not be signing Breaston at this time probably means one very simple thing. He wants too much money. Pittsburgh is going to have to make smart moves this off-season due to their tight salary cap situation and if Breaston is looking for more than a minimum contract he isn't likely to get it from the Steelers.
Right now the Steelers will just wait and see when it comes to Breaston. If he doesn't find greener pastures elsewhere they will revisit signing him later this off-season. For now, and this is purely-speculation, it looks...
