Bobo gets extension from UGA to go along with raise

Todd Grantham isn't the only one of Mark Richt's coordinators with, relatively speaking, long-term job security.
The Georgia head coach revealed prior to practice Thursday that offensive coordinator Mike Bobo received a three-year contract extension as part of his new deal. Bobo is now signed through the 2015 season.
It had previously been reported that Bobo, as part of his new contract, would receive a bump in pay from $335,000 to $575,000.
Grantham, who has served as UGA's defensive coordinator the past three seasons, signed a three-year contract last year that paid him $825,000 in 2012.
Richt explained the length of the deals as the price of doing business in the highly-competitive and cash-flush SEC. "Most coordinators in our league have three-year deals," the Bulldogs coach said.
Bobo was hired by Richt as quarterbacks coach in 2001 and promoted to coordinator prior to the start of the 2007 season. He was also a Bulldogs quarterback in the late nineties, although that hasn't stopped him from being the target of criticism over the past six seasons.
"I think he deserved a three-year deal… I think he's earned that," Richt said of the play-caller.
In addition to the contract matters involving Bobo, Richt also confirmed that offensive line coach Will Friend will make $300,000 in 2013 after a $90,000 raise. Friend was also given an additional title — run-game coordinator.
