Cornerback William Gay is happy to be back with the Pittsburgh Steelers after a one year absence.
Gay, who spent one season in Arizona, says as soon as he was released, he got the call from Pittsburgh. "Soon as it hit the wire that I was released, I got a call from the black and gold. That put a smile on my face -- knowing the team that drafted me wanted me back," he said, via Gerry Dulac and Ed Bouchette-of the-Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Gay signed a 3-year deal with the team on Monday. his agent Jerrod Colton, tweeted that Gay "had other options," but his "heart is with Steeler Nation."
"They said come back and let's go, let's compete and win games," Gay said when asked what his role will be in 2013. "That's all I want to do -- run out of that tunnel with [number] 22 on."
