MLB Notes: Cleveland Indians Sign Daisuke Matsuzaka and Jason Giambi
9:40AM Sunday
February 17, 2013

The Cleveland Indians had a busy weekend, adding two MLB veterans on minor league deals before reporting to camp. Jason Giambi was in the running to become the next manager for the Colorado Rockies earlier this winter, but after he lost out to Walt Weiss, he decided he wanted to continue his playing career, which he will have the chance to do with the Indians, and he'll make $750K if he makes the Big League roster.

Cleveland also agreed to terms with Daisuke Matsuzaka on a minor league deal with an invite to Major League Spring Training. Dice-K will make $1.5 million if he does make the roster, and is reunited with Terry Francona, who managed Matsuzaka during his time as Red Sox manager.

To round out their busy weekend before pitchers and catchers report, we found out that Bretty Myers' option for 2014 will vest in Cleveland if he throws 200 innings this season and passes at physical at the end of the season.
