Report: Pittsburgh Steelers have RB Beanie Wells in for a Physical

According to Dale Lolley, who covers the Pittsburgh Steelers for the Observer-Reporter of Washington, PA, the Steelers are meeting with running back Beanie Wells today. Wells was recently released by the Arizona Cardinals and they signed former-Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall yesterday to replace him.

Wells would be the second Cardinals player to sign with the Steelers after being cut this off-season following corner William Gay. Wells would give the Steelers another young option at running back as he will be only 25 next season and Jonathan Dwyer will only be 24 next season.

In fact, Dwyer and Wells could be a very good combo at running back with Isaac Redman around as a back-up and short yardage back and Baron Batch will look to take over as the third down back and pass protection running back.Last season Wells started only seven games due to a turf toe injury and lost carries to a stable of running backs.
