The Cleveland Indians have announced that closer Chris Perez
has suffered a right shoulder strain, an injury that is expected to sideline
him for the next three to four weeks.

Perez was scheduled to pitch yesterday during the Indians'
spring training matchup against the Chicago White Sox. Instead, manager Terry
Francona told reporters before the game that the closer would not appear. The
skipper gave off a strange vibe while doing so, according to Paul Hoynes of The
Plain Dealer, and he told reporters he'd have more information on Saturday.
Perez was then seen leaving the complex. All the closer would say as he was driving away was "I'm not saying anything." There was speculation that the right-hander was being traded before word of the injury
