Browns pursue free agent cornerback Antoine Cason

March 14, 2013

According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Cleveland Browns have expressed interest in San Diego Chargers free agent cornerback Antoine Cason. As the Browns move to a 3-4 defense, Cason has had experience playing in a similar system in San Diego. Cabot writes:

'A first-round pick of the Chargers in 2008, Cason (6-1, 195) played all five of his seasons under former Chargers coach Norv Turner, now the Browns offensive coordinator.

He also spent two seasons in San Diego with current Browns coach Rob Chudzinski, and defensive coordinator Ray Horton liked him coming out of Arizona, a source said.

Cason, who's been a fulltime starter the past three seasons, finished 2012 with 62 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and 11 passes broken up.

The Browns are seeking a cornerback to replace unrestricted free agent Sheldon Brown, who will not be re-signed.'
